What To Drink If You Want To Lose Weight

Image
It’s boring, but everything you read today will tell you the best thing for you when you’re trying to lose weight: water, 64 oz. a day.  If you think water is too boring you have problems. Okay, I know you’re rolling your eyes but water is really good for you. And people are catching on. In the last 20 years, the sales of bottled water and designer water outsell soda. And if you’re reading financial papers Coke and Pepsi are worried. They’re scrambling to try to recapture share-of-market. That’s what all retail companies live or die by. There’s hope for those of us who need flavored water if we are to consume 64 oz. You can make flavored water at home. I like Basil, and orange water. It’s what I drink if I crave a salty snack, usually mid-afternoon. The taste kills the cravings and the drink looks beautiful in the glass so I feel like I’m treating myself. You can find recipes for making flavored water on the internet, pick the ones without calories. You can invent your own. My doctor p

I’m just going to come out and say it: The truth is, many of us get too many calories and not enough nutrients from fast food, candy, prepackaged goods, and sodas. Even if you’re not overweight, don’t be too quick to write off your junk-food habit as acceptable. Outwardly thin people aren’t necessarily healthy, as it’s possible to be skinny and in poor metabolic health, thanks to bad nutrition and lack of exercise. Many of us feel compelled to eat junk food (after all, it can taste so good), but is a diet high in fat, sugar, and salt worth the trade-off of the elevated risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancers? Kicking the junk-food habit — coupled with regular, heart-pumping exercise — will tip the scales of healthy living in your favor. Don’t know where to start? These simple guidelines will help you get over the hump in no time: Knowledge is power — and in the case of junk food, it can also be downright scary. While grocery aisles may seem fairly benign, t

Which Diet Is Right For You

So what’s the answer, Well this is not only true with diets but the same thing applies to exercise. Whatever changes you make in your routine your body will adjust to the change after a couple weeks. Don’t fight your body, go with it and change up what you're doing. You can trick your body. The body’s primary function is to keep you from starving. Sounds crazy, ah. Millions of ye

For You Exercise Fanatics

My Wife and I are just like you, working out as much as time allows. So when she found this post on “Gizmodo.com” I thought I better post it. But before you read any further, some exercise is good for weight loss but too much can do the opposite. Exercise fanatics tend to eat more calories and can actually gain some weight in the short term.  A new study found that mouthwash cancels out some benefits of exercise. Most of us exercise to build muscle and burn more body fat, but exercise has many other benefits. Most important is the benefit to your heart. By doing regular exercise, you will lower your resting heart rate, and lower your blood pressure. Both of those benefits are said to add to longevity. So what does that have to do with mouthwash, you might ask. Well, mouthwash will kill the bacteria in your mouth, which you might think is a good thing, but some of the bacteria are good bacteria. When you exercise your body produces more “nitric oxide” in your saliva and because of exerc

It Doesn't Cost Money To Lose Weight

If you have never tried to lose weight and your friends tell you about the gym memberships and the cost of those diet pills or you should see a weight loss counselor, and all you can think of is the cost. Well, it’s true, you don’t have to spend money to lose weight. In fact, you might save some money by losing weight. We don’t realize it, but as you go through your work day, you can spend a lot of time snacking. You can consume a lot of junk food and it all costs money. Maybe you start your day at a coffee shop and you don’t just buy coffee. You get to work and there are pastries in the break room, so why not? I use to do it. I’d look for something to snack on every time I took a break. The average person adds 2 or 3 pounds a year, even if they're careful and don’t overeat.
