We Are All Guilty of Eating The Wrong Foods

I believe we are all guilty of running through life so fast that we only think of food as a way to stuff our stomach so it doesn't annoy us. We will stuff anything in our stomach as long as it taste good and fills us up. How dumb is that? We should be thinking about giving our body the things that it needs and then it will definitely leave you alone.

It's not all your fault that you think this way. Most of us are in the generation that grew up with processed foods. Students would look for part-time work after school to subsidize their lifestyle. For the last couple of generations, the only jobs available to students were fast-food jobs. So yesterday's kids grew up eating processed foods from the fast food restaurants. Fast food is mostly deep-fried and not really healthy for anyone. For some students, those fast-food jobs carried them through high school and college. By that time, trans fats, and fried foods was an everyday fare.

After decades of eating fast food these students who grew up into overweight adults who have been consuming too many calories, too much salt, and sugar, and too little nutrition now have numerous health problems that overload the healthcare system.

Recently, though, there has been an effort to change the food in restaurants to something healthier. I say, "it's about time". We can't lose another generation to the evils of processed foods. And why do I think it's evil to manufacture food. There isn't anything wrong with the industry, but what's happened over the years is that many ingredients used to make the food have been created to lower the cost of manufacturing and not to make the food better for you. For instance, soft drinks made in this country use a chemical to sweeten the drink. In Mexico, the government requires manufacturers to use real cane sugar. These are the same manufacturers that make soda in this country, but in the U.S., they are allowed to substitute a chemical for real sugar. Not good for the consumer. The manufacturers are cutting the quality of their product to increase their profits because in this country, labor cost more money and they don't want to increase the price unless the money is going into creating more profit.

The only way we can break the cycle of eating processed foods is if we just stop buying it. Manufacturers have us convinced that we are saving money, but it's not true. Yes, it may cost more to make a meal at home and it will require some extra time, but the cheaper option of buying fast food instead of cooking a meal will only fill you up for an hour or so and you'll want more food again when your not hungry, you just have food cravings from the dependence you developed for salt, sugar, and the fats and other chemicals used in processed food.

Real natural foods eaten closest to their natural state, gives you the nutrition you need for the energy to be active all day. We shouldn't eat just to get full. We have to eat to fuel our body so we have all the energy necessary to think, and for body functions, and have the energy to be active. Your body is made to be healthy all through your life, but you have to feed it the foods it needs and drink lots of water and stay active.
