Can Artificial Sweeteners Increase Your Changes For Obesity?

Image
New studies show Artificial sweeteners are not any better for you than sugar. And maybe sugar is a better choice. But some of us can't have sugar, now what? There might still be an alternative. I use Cinnamon but use real Cinnamon. Buy the sticks and grade your own. I use it on cereal, coffee, and tea. If you can't have sugar you're already avoiding bakery goods and bread that contains sugar. Read this post from MedicineNet.com. Artificial sweeteners may be less helpful than many believe in helping people lose weight and avoid health problems associated with extra pounds, a new evidence review suggests. Aspartame ,  saccharin ,  sucralose  and other artificial sweeteners did not lead to any significant  weight loss  in more than 1,000 participants in seven  clinical trials , said lead researcher Meghan Azad. Clinical trials are considered the "gold standard" of medical research, added Azad, an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Manitoba in

Should You Weight Yourself Every Day?

Image
If you are struggling with overweight or obesity, or otherwise would like to maintain your weight or prevent obesity, you may be wondering if it would be beneficial to weigh yourself frequently, and, if so, how frequently. Recent research has finally shed some light on this question. This is what I tell my clients. If you are someone who will frequently order the wrong thing and then think later that you should have order something else, then yes, weight yourself every day as a reminder that you're trying to lose weight and should be making smart choices. But If you're the type of person who becomes discouraged easily then don't weigh-in every day. I don't care what diet plan you choose you're not going to see the scale go down every day and you are probably not the type of person who forgets that they are trying to lose weight.  Benefits of Daily Weights A recent study has shown that weighing yourself daily—and then plotting your daily weights on a chart e

Common Grocery Store Mistakes

Image
Another good blog post from the HungryGirl blog. I shorten the post a little but I still want you to give you tips to keep you from buying the wrong things in the store. I'm still one who believes if you buy it you'll eat it. Even if you buy a pie or cookies for someone else, you'll eat part of it and everytime you cheat on your diet or go off your food plan it undoes weeks of hard work and keeps your body from burn body fat. Women have a problem buying groceries because they usually buy for several people. Yes, this is a big problem. You're watching your weight, but you're the only one and you have to buy food for everyone. The answer is not to ration food for everyone, the answer is to buy healthy food and stop buying junk. Processed foods are not good for anyone's health yet you continue to bring home chips, soda, white bread, cookies, and cake. The other people in your family or your guests will get enough of that when they eat out. You don't have

Do Diets Really Work?

Image
Verywell.com has some good articles about fitness and diet. I often read their posts and even reblog some of the material. This one is worth the read. From VeryWell.com Men and women have struggled for years, searching endlessly for that magic diet pill to reverse all the bad diet and lifestyle decisions they’ve made in the past. Diet pills come in all shapes, sizes, and colors with different fantasies attached to each one. They range from celebrity-endorsed campaigns to more science-based programs that guarantee success. However, the major question still persists as to whether or not all this diet talk is simply a lie. Don't Fall for Diet Myths and Illusions People are sick and tired of being sick and tired. To make matters worse, a majority of the confusion about diet myths stems from the fitness and nutrition experts, who cannot seem to agree on anything diet related. The Importance of Behavioral Change I would like to break here and mention that I’m not wri

There's A New Tread In the World Of Weight Loss

Image
It's becoming harder to eat organic when so much of the supermarket produce comes from other countries. So a new trend is to eat more seafood which now includes the plant food grown in the ocean. Seaweed will soon be coming to your neighborhood grocery if not already. And besides seaweed, insects, insects like ants are very clean eating and a great source of protein and other vitamins and minerals. They are as Organic as it gets.  This new trend isn't that new. Other countries have been eating things like ants and grasshoppers for decades. I remember in the 1950's eating chocolate covered ants and fried grasshoppers and I liked them. And usually, kids don't like anything. What's driven this in the U.S. is that people are avoiding processed foods and are looking for a substitute. The ants and grasshoppers are a great snack food and you can find them in specialty stores but there expensive. Personally, I'd like to see foods like this become common place and t

About My E-books

Image
I understand that many of us don’t like reading “how-to” books. They tend to be boring and it’s easier to find a video on YouTube or just “google it”. But there’s an upside to books. First, I can skim through and see if this book will answer all my questions and if it can, is it worth the money? That is where the e-book has the advantage. E-books are very reasonable compared to a printed book and you get the same content. So it all comes down to trusting the author. This is one reason why I blog. I want the reader who reads my blog posts to get to know and trust the material I post. From that point on the reader can make the decision to trust the information in my posts or not. For those who have a weight problem or just too much fat and can’t lose it, this will affect your health as you get older. If you’ve read some of my posts you probably have read about belly fat being the worst type of body fat. Everyone should take their health condition serious. I see people on the str

Reasons To Love The Mediterranean Diet

Image
It's not a weight-loss plan, it's the way the Mediterranean people have been eating for thousands of years. Back in the 1980's the medical community became very interested in the Mediterranean people. They had less health problems than other Europeans, Americans, and the rest of the Western World.  At first, they thought it might be the wine they drink every day. Like the French, they have far less cases of cancer and heart disease. So if it's not the red wine what is causing the difference. Now we know it's the diet, that makes the difference. Yes, red wine is good for your blood but it's the whole diet that gives them the good health they enjoy. Less meat and more fruit and vegetables. Seafood is a big part of their diet.  There’s no calories to count or cutting out major food groups. You swap the bad fats for heart-healthy fats like olive oil. You’ll eat fish and poultry instead of red meat. And eat fruit instead of fancy desserts. You’ll eat more ve
