About My E-books
I understand that many of us don’t like reading “how-to” books. They tend to be boring and it’s easier to find a video on YouTube or just “google it”.
But there’s an upside to books. First, I can skim through and see if this book will answer all my questions and if it can, is it worth the money? That is where the e-book has the advantage. E-books are very reasonable compared to a printed book and you get the same content. So it all comes down to trusting the author.
This is one reason why I blog. I want the reader who reads my blog posts to get to know and trust the material I post. From that point on the reader can make the decision to trust the information in my posts or not.
For those who have a weight problem or just too much fat and can’t lose it, this will affect your health as you get older. If you’ve read some of my posts you probably have read about belly fat being the worst type of body fat.
Everyone should take their health condition serious. I see people on the street every day that are struggling just trying to do simple tasks like walking, sitting or trying to get out of a chair. Some of these people are elderly but most of them are young to middle age adults. People who can’t or won’t walk a flight of stairs at the office or the mall. People who don’t try to improve themselves because it takes too much effort.
What we eat and drink will determine how long we live. Most people think that being overweight is about the amount of food we eat or the drinks we drink. But it’s really about the kind of food we eat and the kind of drinks we drink. Most of what we can buy in the grocery store isn’t very healthy. The stores sell these foods because they make more money selling, “for example”, frozen food than selling fresh produce. And why is that you might ask? Because frozen food doesn’t spoil.
Spoilage is a big problem for stores even with free meat and seafood. Canned foods and frozen foods don’t spoil so the store can’t lose money. The same problem is driving up the menu prices in restaurants.
Grocery stores and restaurants thought they had the answer to spoilage when frozen food started to gain popularity but today the younger generation isn’t buying it. The younger generation is more health conscious than older generations. Fresh foods and eating fresh is more popular than ever before. You wonder why the prices of groceries are going up? That’s because with the increase in popularity if fresh foods the amount of food spoilage is on the rise again and we will see the rise reflected in prices.
I was at the grocery store today to buy apples and if you have noticed lately, it’s hard to find fruit priced by the pound. Because the prices are scaring customers away, they sell fruit by the piece. Maybe it’s apples 2 for $1 or it’s 2 for $3 for exotics. So you might have sticker shock when you see some prices but you should know if you don’t remember, that 50 or 60 years ago people spent more of their paycheck for food than we do today. On a percentage basis people spent almost twice what we spend now.
Today the average family has two incomes and spends about 12% of their income for food. I know that’s a big difference between now and the 25% of income that our grandparents paid. But I’ll explain why. First of all most family were one income 50 years ago and families had to buy more food because “eating out” was a luxury and most families only ate out about once a month if that. When I lived with my parents and was in High School we only ate out 2 or 3 times a year, maybe.
The whole point of this blog post is to explain why most of us have a weight problem and that we shouldn’t just throw up our hands and give up. You can change your life and you can lose that excess fat and look better and feel better.
