Dieting is the secret to weight loss

You’ve hear about the French and that the French have a diet that would put weight on any American, but most of them can stay thin. The men and women of all ages in France are thin. When we first looked at their diet we thought that the red wine they drank was the answer. These people eat out as much as we do, they don’t even know what low cal means. So how do they do it? Well first they walk more. City people don’t use cars that much, They walk everywhere. Also bike riding is more popular, you see gasoline has always been expensive in Europe and the people have learned to conserve. Conserving on food is something that France has done since World War II when food was scarce. So today their meal portions are smaller than ours and combine this with the increased amount of walking the French do and it’s much easier for them to control their weight. Now how does that help you? Well there are studies going on today that are discovering that our meal portions maybe double of what we need

Am I Overweight or Obese?

This is a topic I want to write about. There’s a thin line between the two and the doctors are being pushed into putting their patients into categories. Information that use to be between you and your doctor use to be confidential, but today the insurance companies want to know what the doctors know about you. The way insurance companies charge you for insurance is changing. Remember before you dismiss this article, more than half adult Americans are overweight. Personally, I’m talking to each of my doctors to find out how much of my info they share with the government and insurance companies, because I know your insurance company is sharing too. Read below and see if your in one of these categories. Then ask your doctor what your real weight should be, the charts are changing. Doctors usually define "overweight" as a condition in which a person's weight is 10%-20% higher than "normal," as defined by a standard height/weight chart, or as a body mass index (BM

Hey, you couch potatoes get off that couch.

This article I found is a good reason for men to stay moving even after work. A couch potato even in his 40's can set himself up for a heart problem later in life. You might make it a habit to take a walk after dinner. Thirty minutes at night will help digestion and help you sleep. It a short article with good information. Walking at night will also help your weight management program. Older men who spend a lot of time sitting around are more likely to face heart failure down the road, a new study shows. The research included more than 82,000 men between the ages of 45 and 69. Those who spent more time being sedentary outside of work hours, even if they exercised, had a higher risk for heart failure, reported the researchers from Kaiser Permanente Southern California. "Men with low levels of physical activity were 52 percent more likely to develop heart failure than men with higher levels of physical activity," said study author Deborah Rohm Young, a senior scientis

Can Leucine Help Me Lose Weight?

Another good article I found that’s definitely worth reading. Most of the work to writing a blog is the research you need to do to stay current. So gathering the material and sorting through to find the good stuff is what I do, This will hopefully save you time and make your life a little easier. I don’t advocate supplements and I wrote about this before. I like to find those foods that actually contain the vitamins or minerals I want, that way I know my body is absorbing what i need. My thoughts have always been that diet is the most important part of losing weight and lost fat is the most important part of losing weight. You have to find ways to maintain muscle mass while the pounds are coming off. What is leucine and why does it matter in your weight loss plan? Leucine is an essential amino acid. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. Protein helps your body to build and maintain muscle. Your body makes some, but not all, amino acids. Your body does not make leucine

Why Your BMI Doesn't Tell the Whole Story

You may have heard of BMI -- body mass index. It's based on your height and weight, and it's widely used to say who's obese, who's overweight (but not obese), who's at a normal weight, and who's underweight. But BMI has some drawbacks. It may not be the best way to size up your shape. And it says nothing at all about your fitness level. So how useful is BMI really? And what else might you use? I found this article on WEDMD and it’s well worth reading. I wrote a post a few days ago about BMI and how Doctors and insurance companies use it. So what’s important is that you understand how they’ll use this against you to increase the amount you have to pay. What is BMI? BMI, calculated from a person's height and weight, breaks down into four categories: • Underweight: BMI below 18.5 • Normal: BMI ranging between18.5 and 24.9 • Overweight: BMI ranging between 25 and 29.9 • Obese: BMI of 30 or higher "Probably for 90% or 95% of the population, B

HOW I CONTROL MY WEIGHT

First, I researched all I could find on "Why the body adds weight?". I found the after adulthood you shouldn't be adding weight.  Ne an adult body even ow that age can vary, I reached full size at the age of 16. And today doctor's say because of the use of hormone in our food, we could have an adult body even earlier. Not really that good, because your organs are still growing and your brains aren't ready for an adult body. Second, I realize some of my weight management is just dumb luck. I use to yo-yo around a lot. You should know the whole story because in my early 20′s I never really tried to maintain my weight or exercise, but in those days I worked blue collar and worked very hard, physical labor. I drove a route truck for Cola-Cola for 5 years, unloading 100′s of case of coke everyday with no helper and working 60 hour weeks. After that, I worked as a laborer and later a labor forman doing heavy construction. Highways, bridges, and underground tu
