When Did We Start To Use Food To Reward Ourselves

We used to reward ourselves by spending money on something we wanted to buy but didn't have the money until now. For guys maybe it was a new car or truck. For a woman maybe it was a new outfit. Maybe we got a Christmas bonus or a big commission check so we felt like it was time to treat ourselves. 

That was then, and this is now. Now we go out and eat a big meal to celebrate our success. Maybe get a bottle of wine with dinner or cocktails before dinner. I think eating to celebrate started when buying clothes wasn't exciting anymore. 

This goes much further than an occasional meal out. Two-thirds of Americans are overweight. So what you might ask? The overweight problem is causing a Healthcare crisis. If you don't believe me, Look at your Healthcare premiums. Another reason for the high premiums is that the percentage of people without healthcare is rising. Yes, your premiums are paying for people who can't pay for their healthcare. The insurance companies are stuck with high costs because a large percentage of people can't pay. Hospitals pass on the costs to those people who can pay. 

For every 100 people treated in a hospital or clinic, less than half have insurance. Health insurance companies are footing the bill for all the sick and the consumer ends up with the bill through higher premiums. 

The only way to have affordable healthcare is to become a healthier society. If we use any service less it will become cheaper to use. The only reason healthcare is so expensive today is because the system is overwhelmed with patients. If you want to become a healthier person and see your doctor less, you might want to take a good look at your health. Are you overweight? What can I do about my weight?
