Don't Over-Think Weight Loss

I think we all think that we could look better and the first thing that comes to mind is the extra fat we carry around. Every day looking in the mirror is a reminder that we need to lose fat.

Extra fat is bad for our health in some cases. It all depends on how much. We all need some fat to cushion our organs, protect the joints, but there's a limit.

I think we all know when enough is enough, but what do we do about it.

Did you know that your body will burn most fats? I know what you're thinking. Why doesn't it burn my fat?

When I gave up on trying to exercise away the fat, I started to read about the body and how your metabolism works. The body burns the calories you eat to create energy so your heart can circulate blood, so the mind can think, so the organs can work and so you have the strength to move. I believe all of this is done in real-time. The body only burns enough calories to move or think at that moment. So, every day you burn up a different amount of calories. So what is the big deal?

We are creatures of habit and generally eat about the same amount every day. We consume more calories in one day than the body can burn in two days. We are not farmworkers, we can not burn all that we consume. And your body only burns a few grams of fat a day. We consume on average more than 10 ounces of fat every day. Look up "how many grams are in one ounce". It's an eye-opener.

When I went on a fat-free diet, which is actually impossible, but I did the best I could, I started to lose fat. The body will burn fat every day and if you don't eat fat it will burn body fat. And after one month I could see a difference.

Remember how I said not eating fat is almost impossible. Some fat is in almost everything we buy and because the body only needs to burn a few grams a day, it's very easy to add a small amount of fat every day. I had to cut out dairy, and all manufactured foods like bread, cereal, basically anything made with white flour, anything in the grocery store with a label. I was eating fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry, and lots of water, tea, and coffee. I could eat all I wanted. I had to make all my own meals. It's not easy but in a few months, you will be amazed.
