Why Should I Pay Attention To My Weight?
Think back to High School, those years when you were still growing and then remember when you were out of school or in College and were fully grown. For most people that about 18 to 22 years of age. You reach your full height first and the organs are still developing but generally by age 22 your fully developed. That the size your body should remain throughout adulthood. Your organs are developed for that size body and once your fully grown, your organs aren't going to change. By adding more weight to that body your straining all the parts of your body. Your straining your joints, straining your heart, overworking your kidneys and liver. The more weight you add the more you're aging your body. But adding fat is not genetic, you don't inherit fat.
When we say "genetic makeup" we're talking about the things you inherit from your ancestors. The color of your eyes, the shape of your toes, the way your brain works and the way you store your fat. Now that doesn't mean you will be fat because your family is fat, no. But it can effect your weight. It affects your "Basal Metabolic Rate" which is the rate you burn calories, which means that you might burn calories faster of slower then other people. If you burn calories slower then you might have more body fat than others your size. Don't lose hope, you can raise your Basal Metabolic Rate by exercising or just walking more. Very low-calorie diets will actually lower your metabolic rate, and that can cause you to gain weight.
Remember you can't change the way your body stores fat. If you have fat legs, your body is storing fat in your legs and you can't change that. But you can avoid storing fat. The average American Meal contains too many calories, too much saturated fat, cholesterol, animal protein, salt and sugar. All the extra food you consume is turned into fat almost immediately.
The food your eating is the reason your body's adding on fat. Your body fat is ruining your health. When your young you don't notice any change in the way your body works but as you get older that extra weight will age your body, wearing out vital parts and causing diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease to name a few.
Exercise and changing your diet can help you reach a healthier weight. Losing weight might not get rid of all the fat, but exercise will help you become more physically fit and you will lower your risk for disease.
