I want to lose weight, but how long will it take?

This is a frequently asked question. The answer is different for everyone. If you are only 20 pounds or so over your perfect weight then a 200 pound man can expect to loss about 2 pounds a week. If you're a woman who weighs about 140 and wants to lose 20 pounds then 2 pounds every week might be too much to expect. And it also depends on your age. For instance, a young woman who has had a baby recently will loss her 20 pounds faster than a woman in her late 40's who has carried the extra weight for a few years. If you have been over weight for sometime, it will take longer to lose your fat, but it's not impossible. So several things being considered, 20 pounds may take 2 months for a new mom to lose, or it might take a man 200 pounds age 65, one years to drop the weight. Now studies show that 8 hours of sitting, which applies mainly to office workers, is just as bad as smoking and to go a step farther, if you're not exercising that also is just as bad for your health as smoking is. I’ve wrote about The Mediterranean Diet several times and I still think it’s the best way to eat. Yesterday I wrote about saturated fats and that minds are changing and that in moderation saturated fats aren’t harmful. Of course, everyone doesn’t go along with that, but most all research shows that the diet or the way people eat in the Mediterranean region of the world could be the healthiest diet. Inspite of body fat, these people have managed to avoid heart disease and any other types of coronary diseases. When your eating a Mediterranean style diet you won’t be counting calories. You’ll be swapping bad fats for good ones like olive oil instead of butter. Fish and poultry instead of red meat. Fresh fruit instead sweet desserts. You’ll be filling up on veggies and beans. You can snack on nuts instead of candy or chips.  The idea is to eat thinks that are nutritious, thinks that add value to your diet.  Stay away from processed foods. Exercise May Be More Important Then Your Weight

If you want to avoid an early death, this might be a good article to read. I write a lot about the importance of your diet and reaching a healthy weight and you have to do that by changing your diet. But to be healthy you need to exercise. Because of this "information age" we're in today, we don't have enough physical activity. We send too much time on a computer, tablet or smartphone and not enough time doing physical activity. Your parents and grandparents spent more time doing physical work and walking. The more evolved our society, the less we do physically and the more we do with our minds. I think you're cutting our lives short by not taking care of our bodies. If you do a lot of physical work then a workout may not be necessary, but the less physical work we do the more need to compensate by working out. The word “diet” has a bad reputation in the weight loss community. But the bottom line is that we are all on a diet of some sort. Your diet is simply your eating plan. Even if you eat whatever you want, you’re on a diet, your diet. But in order to lose weight, your eating plan – your diet –  must change . Most Americans today, have no plan, unless your doctor put you on a diet plan. We just eat what ever we feel like and that’s why most American’s are overweight. Concentrate on improving your health and the rest will work out. What do I mean? Worrying about the problems in your life will cause you to forget about the big picture. Worrying about money is the main contributor to obesity, but worrying by itself causes obesity. Worrying starts a spiral downward that you can’t stop. Worrying starts by causing depression. You have a big problem that you have no solution for. Maybe it’s about money or maybe something with your job or family. Yes, these may seem like insurmountable problems. And these types of huge problems in your life will cause you to forget what's important. The No-Diet Weight Loss Program

Didn't think you could lose weight without dieting. The short answer is "You can". By adopting sensible eating habits and practicing portion control, you can eat nutritious foods so that you take in as many calories as you need to maintain your health and well-being at your ideal weight. Often, weight loss occurs on its own simply when you start making better food choices, such as avoiding processed foods, sugar-laden foods, white bread and pasta (substitute whole-grain varieties instead), foods with a high percentage of calories from fat, alcoholic drinks.
